An Anxiety Remedy That Can add Sunshine into your Life!

by Dealing with Social Anxiety, Spiritual Healing

A most effective anxiety remedy is a natural sunlight.  It is a human requirement and is responsible for providing you with vitamin D. The vitamin D generated in your skin when the sun’s UV-B rays hit the skin has good benefits. The sunlight can go a lengthy way in making an individual feel much better by generating a soothing effect. Direct exposure to sunlight assists in allowing you a good night’s rest and can help you feel happier.

Another great benefit that natural sunlight offers is that it reduces symptoms of vitamin D deficiency.  Such as feelings of depression, anxiousness and stress particularly during winter time, when many people experience seasonal affective disorder (SAD). But exposure to the sunshine can improve their emotional state.

There are certain treatments for anxiety attack that can release serotonin in the brain (a feel-good hormone).  But sunlight may enable your physical body to make more of the neurotransmitter in a natural way.

One must keep in mind that there are several anti-anxiety drugs.  Such as Xanax and Librium, that may not be as effective with direct light after consumption.

Certain medications can make an individual a lot more sensitive to light, which can cause sunburn with prolonged sunlight exposure. The vitamin D we receive from the sun can help protect us against many diseases.  Diseases such as heart disease, osteoporosis, breast, prostate, and even colon cancer. Furthermore, natural sunlight has other hidden benefits—like protecting against insomnia, and an overactive immune system.

Natural Sunlight as an Anxiety Remedy: How Much Sun Exposure?

The amount of time you need to spend in the sun for your skin to produce vitamin D depends on various factors:

  1. Skin type ( how dark your skin and how easily you burn)
  2. Time of year
  3. What time of day it is

It is recommended that short daily periods of sun exposure without sunscreen during the summer months, from April to October are enough.   This is enough for most people to produce enough vitamin D.

The best time of day to produce vitamin D is between the hours of 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Short daily periods of sun consists of about 10 to 15 minutes, which is enough for lighter-skinned people and even less time if you start to burn.

People with darker skin need to spend a long time in the sun to produce the same amount of vitamin D,  They must also be careful not to burn.

The larger the area of skin that you expose to the sunlight, the better the chance of producing enough vitamin D before you burn.

Make sure you take precautions to cover up or protect your skin with sunscreen before you start to turn red or burn. Remember to stay covered when you spend a lot of time in the sunlight and use sunscreen with at least a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15.

Of course, too much sunshine can have its bad effects, but sunlight in moderation can definitely uplift and make you feel better about yourself.

Natural sunlight offers great benefits emotionally and physically, especially during times of anxiety and stress. It is an anxiety remedy that will definitely help you feel healthier and more relaxed.
